12 arrested by Immigration in Katsina en route Europe

- The Nigerian Immigration's tight border control is yielding results - Officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) nabbed 12 persons in Katsina on their way to Europe - Seven of the girls used hijab to disguise themselves for easy passage, but they were nabbed Seven girls using hijab to disguise themselves and evade arrest at the border were among the 12 persons intercepted by the NIS in Katsina on their way to Europe, Daily Trust reports. According to the report, this brings the total number of persons apprehended by the NIS to 40 in the last four months as they tried to cross various legal and illegal routes to Agadez in Niger Republic en route Libya then Europe. Pastor Adeboye steps down as General Overseer for RCCG Nigeria, appoints new GO

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has appointed a General Overseer for the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Nigeria. According to the 74 year old clergyman, Pastor Joseph Obayemi, will oversee the affairs of the church here in Nigeria. Obayemi was deputy in charge of Finance and a member of governing council, before his appointment. Adeboye made the announcement during the church’s annual thanksgiving held at the 3km new auditorium today 7th January 2016. Pastor J.F Odesola is now the church's Secretary while Pastor J.A. Adeyokunnu is the new Treasurer. Present at the thanksgiving service were Vice President Yemi Osibajo and other Senior Pastors of the Church. Pastor Enoch Adeboye was appointed the General Overseer of the Church in 1981, taking over from late Papa Akindayomi.
